Agriculture minister launches KVK Mobile App

Through this app, the farmers will be benefitted with complete knowhow generated in Krishi Vigyan Kendras besides becoming capable enough to access all sorts of information

New Delhi: Mr Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated Data Centre and Mobile App at Indian Agriculture Statistics Research Institute (IASRI) in PUSA Complex on December 21, 2016. Mr Singh said that this Data Centre of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will play remarkable role to encourage Digital India Campaign in agriculture Field.

The KVK Mobile app has been interlinked with KVK portal at national level. Therefore it become easy to access the information from KVK portal. This app provides necessary information regarding agriculture trading and Farming practices. By this app, the farmers will be benefitted with complete knowhow generated in Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Also, farmers will be capable enough to access all sorts of information viz , seed production, crops, fisheries farming, price of agricultural commodities in the market, weather, and other announcements and notifications related to farming sector through KVK app. Through this app, the farmers will also be able to receive information about different agricultural programmes and schemes being run by the Government. There is an option for suggestions and frequently asked questions including assembled list of many questions and their answers related to farming and their solutions, training programmes etc.

The Government has launched Digital India Campaign to authorize the country with digital point of view. This campaign aims to welfare of farmers by providing electronic services while reducing the requirements of paper. This Service would be started in July 2017 to connect rural people via high speed internet network, as Minister said while focusing on e-governance, virtual wallets so as to reduce human efforts.

Dr R B Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal said that the Technology have significant role in empowering the agriculture sector and profitable to farmers so as to meet the criterion for farmers welfare.

Dr K Algusundaram, Deputy General Ditrector (Agricultural Engineering), ICAR appreciated initiative of KVK Mobile app for developing and deploying this technology.
