New Delhi: Under skill development program, a national workshop/conference entitled “LC-MS/MS and HRMS analysis of secondary metabolites” was organized at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow from 14th-16th October 2019. The objective of the program was to train the participants for secondary metabolites analysis using LC-MS and HRMS instruments. Secondary metabolites are considered as main key for drug discovery and development.

Total of 21 participants came from different parts of India to participate in it. This workshop was aimed to cover the basics of liquid chromatography (LC) followed by High-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) to know the molecular formula. HRMS and LC-MS/MS in combination are the best and suitable tools to identify, characterize and quantify the molecules. The outcome of this workshop will benefit the users in improving their understanding towards the techniques and their applications in research activities according to the need of participants.

This will also help them to assess their molecules for the right type of analysis and systematic interpretation of data to know their compounds. All the participants are able to see the HPLC/UPLC-HRMS, MS/MS experiments on the instrument and interpretation of data by expert. Dr R Achal, Dr Sanjeev Ojha, Dr Brijesh Kumar, Dr Sanjeev Kanojiya, Dr Ajit Datar and Dr Saurabh Nagpal delivered their talks.
