New Delhi: Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, has announced the launch of its super-premium R20 ultrasound system for general imaging — a next-generation platform that marks a significant advancement in clinical diagnostics.
The R20 brings together cutting-edge artificial intelligence, exceptional image clarity, and an ergonomic design tailored to maximise clinician comfort and efficiency.
Powered by Samsung’s state-of-the-art Crystal Architecture™, the R20 offers outstanding image uniformity, resolution, and penetration across a wide range of general imaging applications. Its advanced imaging engine, robust GPU, and ultra-high-definition OLED monitor work in tandem to give clinicians superior visualisation and enhanced diagnostic confidence with every scan.
The system introduces a suite of AI-enabled features designed to streamline complex procedures and reduce repetitive tasks. These include real-time detection tools such as Live LiverAssist, which identifies suspicious focal lesions during an ongoing scan, and Live BreastAssist, which detects breast lesions and categorises them using BIRADS classifications instantly. The R20 also incorporates AI-driven automated measurement capabilities that identify internal structures, take precise measurements, and generate guided reports for increased accuracy and high throughput. Additionally, its Deep USFF technology enables advanced quantification of liver fat with accuracy comparable to MRI PDFF, the gold standard.
The R20’s powerful imaging architecture supports a broad array of clinical specialties, including abdominal, thyroid, musculoskeletal, vascular, breast, obstetrics, gynaecology, and urology imaging. Enhanced Doppler sensitivity and improved colour flow visualisation allow clinicians to identify even subtle vascular structures and pathologies with a higher degree of precision. This versatility ensures consistent, high-quality diagnostic outcomes across widely varied patient needs and clinical settings.
Atantra Das Gupta, Head of HME Business at Samsung India, described the R20 as a reflection of Samsung’s commitment to intelligent healthcare innovation. He emphasized that with AI at its foundation and a design that blends image excellence with clinician comfort, the R20 represents a significant shift in ultrasound technology, enabling doctors to identify lesions even during live scanning.
Alongside its advanced imaging capabilities, the R20 has been thoughtfully engineered for user comfort and operational efficiency. Lightweight transducer cables, an intuitive touch interface, and customizable configurations create a system that reduces strain, minimizes fatigue, and seamlessly adapts to different clinical workflows. Every aspect of its refined design keeps clinicians and patients at the center of the experience.
With the introduction of the R20, Samsung strengthens its vision of shaping the future of healthcare technology. By integrating AI-driven intelligence with superior imaging performance and clinician-focused design, the R20 is set to redefine the standard of general imaging in modern medical practice.
