Dr Sudhir Srivastava and Dr Sudhir Rawal honoured with Golden Robot Surgical Award 2025

New Delhi: In a landmark moment for India’s medical technology leadership, the prestigious Golden Robot Surgical Award 2025 was presented this year to two of India’s most distinguished robotic-surgery pioneers, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava (Founder, Chairman and CEO, SS Innovations International Inc.) and Dr. Sudhir Rawal (Medical Director at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre) at 7th International Prostate Cancer Symposium & World Urologic Oncology event at Mount Sinai, New York, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to advancing the field of robotic surgery in India and globally.

The awards were conferred by renowned surgeon and philanthropist Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari together with global medical dignitaries Meryl and James Tisch, in a ceremony attended by luminaries from the medical and research community. This prestigious recognition, previously awarded to trailblazers like Dr. Ashustosh Tewari, Chairman of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and Dr. Mani Menon, Founding Director of the Vattikuti Urology Institute, celebrates extraordinary contributions that are shaping the future of surgical innovation and transforming outcomes for cancer patients worldwide.

This award is a testament to Dr. Srivastava’s & Dr. Rawal’s tireless efforts, visionary work, groundbreaking advancements in robotic surgery and unwavering commitment to improving patient care on a global scale. By acknowledging Dr. Srivastava and Dr. Rawal together, the 2025 edition underscores the pivotal role Indian surgeons are playing in shaping the global narrative around robotic surgery.

Dr. Sudhir Srivastava is a trailblazer in developing indigenous robotic solutions for cardiac and multi-specialty surgery. As the mind behind the first Made-in-India surgical robot, the SSII Mantra, he has championed cost effective, high-precision robotic systems that democratize access to advanced surgical care. In a recent public address, Dr. Srivastava emphasized that robotic surgery is not just a luxury but a necessity for modern healthcare with many patients able to return home in two to three days post operation, thanks to minimally invasive techniques and faster recovery protocols.

Dr. Sudhir Rawal is a veteran urologist and oncologist who has consistently pushed the frontiers of robotic genito-urinary and onco-surgery in India. As Medical Director and Chief of Uro-Oncology at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC), Delhi, he pioneered robotic cancer surgeries, including complex procedures with the SSII Mantra systems. Under his leadership, RGCIRC and associated teams performed many tele surgeries for cancer care- & executed the same remotely using the SSII Mantra surgical robot, significantly expanding access to specialized care even for patients in remote areas.
