New Delhi: Merck recently engaged students, families, and science enthusiasts throughout at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Open Day 2026 in Bengaluru. The day was filled with interactive demonstrations that made complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting.
The IISc Open Day is an annual tradition that opens the institute’s doors to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to explore research laboratories, scientific demonstrations, and exhibits across campus. This year, Merck once again participated as an active partner, setting up a dedicated stall where volunteers conducted a diverse range of SPARK™ activities.
These carefully designed experiments introduced visitors to fundamental scientific principles including the Science Behind Fingerprints, Natural Indicators, Refraction of Light, and Food Adulteration detection. The hands-on approach allowed participants to experience science firsthand rather than simply reading about it.
Visitors also participated in interactive learning activities including science crosswords, quizzes, periodic table puzzles, and scrambled word challenges.
The Merck stall received an enthusiastic response throughout the day. As per the company, curious participants returned to the Merck stall multiple times, asking thought-provoking questions that kept volunteers on their toes. This reaffirmed that scientific curiosity is alive and well. Merck’s in IISc Open Day 2026 reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to science education and its dedication to nurturing curiosity and scientific thinking among young learners—a mission embodied in the SPARK™ program that has reached over 55,000 students across 26 countries in 2025 alone.
