New Delhi: “While human compassion is the soul of healthcare, artificial intelligence can be its strongest ally,” said Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and North Mumbai MP, Piyush Goyal, as he inaugurated a robotic knee replacement surgery facility in Goregaon on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa.
The facility, which introduces AI-enabled surgical precision to orthopedic care, is a step toward making cutting-edge technology accessible to the common man. “India must lead the world not just in software and manufacturing, but also in healthcare innovation that puts patients first,” Goyal said.
Highlighting the government’s vision for a healthier India, Goyal added, “Advanced technologies like robotic-assisted surgery must not remain limited to a privileged few. They should become tools for inclusive growth—ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every corner of our country.”
The new facility, powered by Merrill India’s MISO robotic system, promises greater precision, reduced recovery time, and improved outcomes for patients undergoing knee replacement surgery. Goyal applauded the initiative led by Dr. Rahul Modi, a FIFA-certified orthopedic surgeon, for championing accessible innovation in the field.
Also present at the inauguration was local MLA Vidya Thakur, who echoed the sentiment of promoting patient-centric progress in public health infrastructure.
“Let this center be more than just a milestone in medical advancement—it should be a symbol of how technology can and must serve humanity,” Goyal concluded, calling upon the medical fraternity to continue bridging the gap between innovation and inclusivity.
