New Delhi:  The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, is pioneering a new wave of medical education with its “Techniques in Physiological Sciences” (TIPS) workshops.
Held from April 2nd to 4th, 2024, this intensive program offered a unique opportunity for participants to gain practical skills in cutting-edge physiological techniques.
Dr. M. Srinivas, the esteemed Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, underlined the significance of these workshops: “As ambassadors of physiology, let us embrace the dynamic changes and innovative teaching methods showcased in our workshops. Let us carry forth the memory of this institution and its invaluable techniques to every corner of our regions and states. Physiology isn’t just about memorization; it’s the cornerstone of every medical profession, from doctors to researchers to industry experts. Let us inspire others to delve deeper into the fascinating world of physiology, ensuring that our teaching transcends classrooms and reaches the hearts of those we touch. Together, let us redefine the narrative of physiology, transforming it into clinical physiology, actively shaping patient care and interventions.”
Over three action-packed days, participants delved into 16 dynamic workshops covering various physiological domains. From cardiovascular and respiratory physiology to neurophysiology and behavioural techniques, TIPS offers a comprehensive learning experience. Participants will gain hands-on training in advanced techniques like non-invasive brain mapping and objective assessments of lifestyle modifications.
Dr. Kanwalpreet Kochhar, the visionary Prof. & Head In-charge of Cognitive Neurophysiology & Nutrition Lab at AIIMS, New Delhi, encapsulated the essence of this transformative event, saying, “In our Department of Physiology at AIIMS, we’ve embarked on a journey of innovation and discovery since 2015, culminating in the 9th edition of TIPS – Techniques in Physiological Sciences. Through 16 dynamic workshops, we’re not just teaching techniques; we’re revolutionizing how we understand and intervene in human physiology. From non-invasive brain mapping to objective assessments of lifestyle modifications, our approach encompasses a holistic view of health. TIPS isn’t just about teaching techniques; it’s revolutionizing how we understand and intervene in human physiology.”
TIPS goes beyond traditional workshops. Interactive sessions, demonstrations, and practical exercises create an engaging environment. This fosters collaboration and continuous learning, extending beyond the three-day program. Dr. Srinivas envisions a network of medical professionals connected by their shared dedication to physiology, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
