BIRAC seeks proposals for funding under PACE, SBIRI & BIPP

New Delhi: The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Public-Sector Undertaking, of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has announced key proposal calls with July 31, 2017 as the deadline.
To begin with, the BIRAC’s 12th Call for Proposals under (Promoting Academic Research Conversion to Enterprise) is to encourage/support academia to develop technology/product (up to PoC stage) of societal/ national importance and its subsequent validation by an industrial partner.
The PACE scheme has two components: the Academic Innovation Research (AIR) and Contract Research Scheme (CRS). The objective of Academic Innovation Research (AIR) scheme is to promote development of Proof-of-concept (PoC) for a process/product by academia with or without the involvement of industry. Contract Research Scheme (CRS) aims at validation of a process or prototype (developed by the academia) by the industrial partner.
The 34th SBIRI Call for Proposals is an Advanced Technology Scheme for high risk, transformational technology/process development from proof-of-concept to validation leading to high value product commercialization. The scheme supports new and futuristic technology development with major social bearing but uncertain market driven demand. It supports startups, SME’s and other biotech companies on cost sharing basis.
The 41st Call for Proposals under BIPP Scheme is also an Advanced Technology Scheme for high risk, transformational technology/process development from proof-of-concept to validation leading to high value product commercialization. The scheme supports new and futuristic technology development with major social bearing but uncertain market driven demand. It supports startups, SME’s and other biotech companies on cost sharing basis.
All the schemes are open from 15th June – 31st July, 2017. Details of the schemes including eligibility requirements, categories for proposal submission; guidelines for support as grant and loan; agreement templates etc. are available on the BIRAC’s website.
