BIRAC’s call for synthetic biology research proposals ends on 30th june

New Delhi: The scientists interested in undertaking research in the field of synthetic biology can now apply to the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council’s call for proposals in the area of synthetic biology for proof of concept and early/late stage validation. The call for proposals that was opened up on 15th May this year would be closing on 30th June.

The theme of the call is “Synthetic biology approach for a transition towards a Bio-based economy.”

The areas of interest include pathway engineering/genome engineering in microorganisms and algae for fine chemicals, Speciality chemicals, Polymers,
Biolubricants, Hydrocarbons, Improved enzyme systems and development of synthetic genetic parts and synthetic circuits.

The potential applicants can include a single or consortia of Indian companies,
limited liability partnerships, academia, startups, and even non-academic individuals.

The proposals can be applied either alone, or in collaboration where applicable as per Request for Proposal (RFP) document. Proposals are required to be submitted online only.
