CK Birla Hospital strengthens robotic orthopaedics programme amid rising burden of joint issues in India

New Delhi: In response to the growing prevalence of joint-related concerns in India, CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, is reinforcing its commitment to advanced, patient-centric orthopaedic care through the expansion of its robotic joint replacement programme.

As part of its focus on precision-led, minimally invasive solutions, the hospital recently hosted a clinical knowledge exchange with Australian orthopaedic surgeon Dr Josh Petterwood.

Dr Petterwood, a distinguished specialist from Hobart, Australia, is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in robotic-assisted hip and knee surgeries. During his visit, he engaged with the hospital’s orthopaedic team, led by Dr Debashish Chanda, through case-based discussions and live surgical observations. The session facilitated a meaningful two-way exchange of insights on surgical techniques, planning, and recovery protocols.

Joint-related problems are rising sharply in India due to factors such as ageing, sedentary lifestyles, obesity, sports injuries, and poor posture. These challenges underscore the need for advanced, technology-driven interventions that enhance surgical precision, reduce complications, and support faster recovery.
