New Delhi: Eva Women’s Hospital in Ahmedabad hosted the world’s first declared hands-on training in endometriosis surgery, led by renowned surgeon Dr. Dipak Limbachiya.
The two-day workshop, held on September 25 and 26, saw the completion of 17 complex surgeries, positioning the hospital as a leader in advanced gynaecological care.
Dr Limbachiya, an advanced gynaec laparoscopic and onco surgeon, pioneered the workshop, which allowed four selected doctors, including one international participant, to perform intricate procedures under expert guidance. The surgeries tackled severe cases of Grade 4 endometriosis, with bowel resection and anastomosis, ureter repair, and deep infiltrating endometriosis surgeries among the procedures performed.
“All the patients have been discharged and are doing very well. We are thankful to each one of them for this opportunity to serve them and express gratitude to the participating doctors for their service,” said Dr Limbachiya.
The initiative aimed to enhance the surgical expertise of participants in managing endometriosis, a challenging condition that affects millions of women worldwide. The training was designed to provide hands-on experience, using cutting-edge laparoscopic techniques and advanced medical equipment. Participants were equipped with the knowledge to replicate these life-changing surgeries in their own practices.
Dr Limbachiya, who has trained over 2,400 doctors since 2012, emphasized his commitment to fostering the next generation of surgeons. “It is immensely satisfying to watch fellow doctors learn about the newest advances in laparoscopy and improve their surgical skills, enabling them to provide enhanced care to their patients,” he added.
The workshop featured live demonstrations and informative lectures, combining practical experience with theoretical knowledge to provide a comprehensive learning opportunity. The success of the event highlights the importance of continuous professional development in tackling complex medical conditions like endometriosis.
