Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIMB and Chairman & Executive Director of Narayana Health, launched this program. In his keynote address, throwing light on the opportunities for start-ups solving problems in the field of healthcare, Dr. Shetty said, “Start-ups can change how healthcare is delivered by making it safer for patients, more affordable, and more accessible to all.”
“While there are many incubators dotting the healthcare ecosystem, we believe that our focus on the entrepreneur and to do whatever it takes to make them successful, will differentiate us in this crowded space. Moreover, our unique approach of integrating doctors, hospitals and labs into the program will enable us to combine IIMB’s business mentorship with on-the-ground medical expertise under one roof, something that will be hugely valuable to entrepreneurs,” said Professor Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chair, NSRCEL and faculty in the Finance & Accounting area of IIMB.
The structured incubation program provides support to healthcare innovators and entrepreneurs through their ‘lab to market’ journey. With the NSRCEL healthcare incubation program, both clinicians and hospitals can engage with start-ups, and mentor and monitor the progress of those start-ups which can contribute to their strategic objectives.
Early-stage ventures will be shortlisted for a three-month long pre-incubation phase of the program, where they will be guided by mentors through need assessment, one-on-one interactions and workshops. The entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to network with more than 800 NSRCEL ventures and connect with the partner networks – Bangalore BioInnovation Center, IIITB Innovation Center SocialAlpha, HCG Academics and others.
Post pre-incubation, the ventures will be given an opportunity to pitch to NSRCEL for a 12-month incubation program. The incubation phase will focus on entrepreneurs getting access to workshops on building their value proposition, impact measurement, leadership capacity building, legal and compliance support, strategic road map for scaling among others along with funding.
The participants of the NSRCEL Healthcare Program will receive continued support after program completion through webinars, masterclasses, guest lectures, and workshops.
