New Delhi: Science day is celebrated in India on 28th February of every year to commemorate the great discovery of the Raman effect by our own world class Indian Physicist Sir C.V Raman for which discovery he was awarded Nobel Prize in 1930.
Sir CV Raman was the man of science whose admiration for the world we live in is seen in his every lecture, and also in his philosophical quotes. He was the one who said, if you ask the right questions, mother nature will open the door to her secrets.
This year national science day event is being celebrated under the theme of “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”, in light of India’s G20 presidency and in Science20 vertical.
CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow celebrated the National Science Day in the gracious presence of National President, Vijnana Bharti and Distinguished Professor, Savitribai Phule Pune University and former Director General of CSIR and former Secretary DSIR, Dr. Shekhar C Mande.
He delivered a very motivational talk on “The role of scientists and engineers in India’s independence struggle and beyond”. In his talk he mentioned various instances how the Indian scientist like Sir CV Raman, Sir PC Ray, Sir JC Bose, Sir M Visvesvaraya struggled to compete with colonial thinking of western world and proved the supremacy of Indian Science. He mentioned their dedication to Nation and their contribution for upliftment of Indian society as well as Indian Science.
The audience were awestruck to listen the glorious history of Indian Science particularly in the era of Science when Indian Science was considered inferior to western countries.
