Medical innovations pool at AP MedTech Zone

Visakhapatnam: MediValley, the Innovation arm of AP MedTech Zone, conducted a follow up pitch event on MedTech Innovations for incubation support at Vizag on 11^th of September 2018.

A total of sixteen teams participated from across eight cities to pitch their health technology innovation in front of a jury comprising of hospital administrators, clinicians, policy makers, venture fund managers, entrepreneurs, medical device manufacturers, biotechnology industry leaders and board members of the incubation facility at the zone.

Select segments of MedTech Innovations were deliberated both on innovation scale, mentorship role, clinical research ties up with venture partners, return of investment, scalability of manufacturing and all other aspects of MedTech innovations from bench to bedside.

MediValley would help the selected incubatees in prototyping, testing, validation, regulatory and all relevant parameter in getting the product realized in a manner relevant to the national priority need. This exercise offered a unique opportunity to enable innovations at a manufacturing zone under mentorship of manufacturers and industry leaders to forsee indigenous manufacturing in the otherwise import dependent medical device sector and reduction of healthcare expenses in the long run.

MediValley is the Incubation facility at AMTZ, shortlisted for funding by NITI Aayog, under the Atal Innovation Mission. The innovations pitched at the event ranged from Robotics arm for surgery, virtual rehabilitation for stroke patients, advanced hearing aid solutions as well as breathing devices for yoga among the pool of scientific pitches.
