Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society conducts their Annual General Body Meeting

New Delhi: Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society’s (Hyderabad) convened its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at the TSCS premises, Raghavendra Colony, Shivarampally, Hyderabad.

The meeting witnessed the active participation of numerous general body members, all of whom came together to celebrate the society’s achievements and chart a promising course for the future.

Dr. Chandrakant Agarwal, President of the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society (Hyderabad) extended a warm welcome to the esteemed General Body Members as he inaugurated the AGM. A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Society’s Audited Financial Report for the year 2022-23 by Dr. Chandrakant Agarwal. This report garnered unanimous approval from the AGM attendees, underscoring the Society’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Dr. Suman Jain, General Secretary of the Society, delivered a comprehensive report detailing the Society’s past activities and achievements. She also shared the Society’s action plan for the prevention of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease in Telangana and India. This roadmap outlines the Society’s dedication to its mission of achieving a ‘Thalassemia Free Telangana’ in the near future.

Mrs. Ratnavali Kottapali,  Senior Vice President of the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society (Hyderabad), took the opportunity to recount the remarkable journey of the organization. She also highlighted the dedication of the Society’s members and their commendable progress in preventing Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease in Telangana.

One of the most significant moments of the AGM was when Chief Patron Mr. Naresh Rathi addressed the gathering. He passionately advocated for a proactive approach, urging the Telangana Government to issue a Government Order (G. O.) mandating all gynecologists to prescribe the HbA2 test to pregnant women during their first trimester. This crucial step, he emphasized, would play a pivotal role in preventing and ultimately eradicating Thalassemia from the state of Telangana.

Dr. Chandrakant Agarwal, President of the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society (Hyderabad), shared his thoughts on the AGM’s success, stating, “The Annual General Body Meeting serves as a testament to an unwavering commitment to our services. It reaffirms our dedication to creating a Thalassemia-free Telangana, also Thalassemia free Telangana and India. The unanimous approval of our Audited Financial Report and the enthusiastic support from our members inspire us to continue our efforts with renewed vigour.”

The AGM concluded with a heartfelt note of thanks to all the members, patrons, and supporters who have been instrumental in the Society’s journey towards a healthier, Thalassemia-free Telangana and India.
