Avantor earns certificate of appreciation from National Safety Council in India

Avantor’s cGMP manufacturing facility in Panoli, Gujarat, India, achieved a zero Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) over the past five years

New Delhi: The National Safety Council in India (NSC) recently awarded the Avantor cGMP manufacturing facility in Panoli, Gujarat, India, with a Certificate of Appreciation in the manufacturing sector covering the “Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products, Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals, Medicinal Chemical and Botanical Products.”

The NSC in India was established by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India, in 1966 to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary movement on safety, health and environment at the national level. The objective of the NSC awards program is to recognize consistent and meritorious Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) performance; recognize effective implementation of OSH management systems, practices and procedures; and encourage continual commitment to OSH.

According to Devashish Ohri, Avantor executive vice president, APAC & MEA, the company’s Panoli facility has achieved a zero Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for the past five years.

“Safety plays an integral role in the operations and management of our facility,” Ohri said. “This certificate is a strong endorsement of our unwavering commitment to provide our employees with the training, tools and technology they need to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.”

Avantor’s Panoli plant is ISO 9001:2008 certified and approved by the Indian Food and Drug Administration. The facility produces high-purity solvents, salts and solutions under cGMP conditions that comply with Indian Pharmacopoeia (IPC), U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), National Formulary (NF), European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) and British Pharmacopoeia (BP).
