CSIR-CDRI joins hands with NIPER Guwahati for scientific upliftment of North-East India

Prof Kundu & Prof Murty Exchanging the MoU.
New Delhi: CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow and NIPER Guwahati, Assam (NIPER-G) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaborative R&D projects. The MoU was signed by Dr. U.S.N. Murty Director, NIPER -Guwahati, Assam and Prof. Tapas K Kundu Director CDRI.
This MoU aims to provide collaborative cooperation through:
i) Collaborative Research Programs in specific fields of interest: CSIR-CDRI and NIPER-G will jointly identify specific fields to conduct collaborative research programs of mutual interest.
ii) Student Training Programs: Training programs for students will be explored and organized as per Institute guidelines.
iii) Faculty Exchange Programs: Exchange programs for Faculty will be explored and conducted accordingly which will be beneficial mutually for both Parties.
iv) Sharing of Instrumentation Facility: The facilities shall be used as per the prevailing guidelines of both the Institutes.
v) Submission of Joint Projects: Project proposals may be jointly submitted to DBT, CSIR, DST, ICMR or any other funding agencies for extramural funding for carrying out further studies of selected project/molecules.
On this occasion CSIR-CDRI Director, Prof. Tapas K Kundu said, this MoU will be very helpful for knowledge sharing and academic/scientific uplift through value addition and providing intellectual inputs. This will also provide the opportunity to stakeholders to collaborate with each other and finally both can mutually help in betterment of Science particularly in North-East India which is very rich in biodiversity but still unexplored scientifically.
The NIPER-Guwahati, Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India, the first National Pharma Education and R&D centre in North East India, established in 2008 is one of the first kind of Pharma Education and Research Institute in North East India.
The CSIR-CDRI is India’s pioneer drug research institute having all the infrastructure facilities for and development of new drug from conceptual to commercialization stage including GLP facilities, SAR, QSAR, combinatorial synthesis, bioinformatics, proteomics, genomics, regulatory toxicology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutics and expertise in conducting and coordinating clinical trials.
