Dr Ritu Trivedi honored with NASI-Reliance Platinum Jubilee Award 2020 in bioscience

New Delhi: Dr Ritu Trivedi, Principal Scientist at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s Lucknow-based premier institute, Central Drug Research Institute has been conferred with NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award (2020) in Biological Sciences. The award carries a Plaque and cash of Rs 3 lakh.

Major scientific contributions of Dr Ritu Trivedi are in the area of Metabolic Bone Disorders Specifically Post-Menopausal Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis. Her work has led to potential products from natural resources and small molecules for the improvement of bone health. She has shown that Dalbergia sissoo exhibited osteogenic efficacy with a novel osteogenic marker which has led to translational benefits as a rapid fracture healing agent by the name REUNION^® which is in the market. The one-year clinical trial has been done in post-menopausal women

Another product by the name JOINT FRESH^® for osteoarthritis from Spinacea oleracea has cartilage proliferative ability.  These contributions have led to 23 patents both national and international to her credit with more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

She is a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (India). She has got the prestigious Tata Innovation Fellowship 2019-20 by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in recognition of her outstanding research contributions.
