ICMR selects new directors for its 7 key institutes

The selection of directors for seven of its affiliated research institutes by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) comes at a time when the government is pushing new strategies to develop solutions for various disease areas

New Delhi: The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has selected fresh faces as new directors of its seven prestigious research institutes. The announcement to this effect was made on 14th December.

Among the selected names is Dr R. Hemalatha who has been appointed as the Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. Dr M Vishnu Vardhan Rao will be the new Director of National Institute of Medical Statistics, New Delhi. Dr Kamlesh Sarkar will be the Director of National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad.

Dr Samiran Panda will take over as the  Director of National AIDS Research Institute, Pune and Dr Shripad A. Patil will be the new Director of National JALMA Institute of Leprosy & Other Mycobacterial Diseases, Agra.

Dr Manoj V. Murhekar will be the new Director of National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai and Dr Manisha Madkaikar will be the Director of National Institute of Immunohaematology Mumbai, Maharashtra.
