IIL donates 10,000 anti-rabies vaccine doses to economically backward provinces in Vietnam

New Delhi: Indian Immunologicals Ltd (IIL), under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah and Managing Director Dr. K. Anand Kumar, has donated 10,000 doses of its anti-rabies vaccine to economically backward provinces across 5 provinces in Vietnam.
The donation ceremony, held in Hanoi and chaired by Dr. Huong from the Rabies Control Programme of the Government of Vietnam, was attended by officials from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), various provinces, and AMV group led by CEO Minh.
IIL, renowned for its commitment to “One Health,” focuses on developing vaccines for zoonotic diseases, ensuring responsible manufacturing practices for environmental protection,  imparting knowledge and raising disease awareness among stakeholders. 75% of all emerging and recurring diseases originate from animals, and IIL has utilized diverse technological platforms to develop vaccines for zoonotic diseases like Rabies, Brucellosis, Leptospirosis, Porcine Cysticercosis, and Covid-19. Additionally, the company is actively working on new vaccines such as Zika and KFD, targeting other zoonotic diseases. IIL holds the distinction of being the largest global manufacturer of anti-Rabies vaccines for both animals and humans, and it is at the forefront of promoting the “One Health” initiative worldwide.
In India, IIL actively contributes to public health through initiatives such as free anti-rabies vaccination camps and participation in Zoonosis Day activities, vaccinating approximately 100,000 dogs. The company collaborates with organizations like CAWA and MCT on initiatives like the Rabies Free Thiruvananthapuram campaign, demonstrating its commitment to eliminating rabies. IIL offers assistance to NGOs focused on One Health initiatives, collaborating with the Utkarsh Foundation to support vaccination and disease control efforts.

Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah highlighted, “IIL has been undertaking many social good activities that has benefitted many people across all walks of life. This donation will save the lives of people who can’t afford vaccines.”
