New Delhi: Nephro Care India Limited (NCIL), a multi-specialty healthcare provider backed by Deepak Parekh, has reported an 86.07% increase in standalone net profit for the financial year 2023-24. The company’s profit after tax (PAT) reached ₹4.41 crore, up from ₹2.37 crore in FY 2022-23.
This growth is largely attributed to higher revenues, which rose 59.33% to ₹27.23 crore during the same period, driven by increasing demand for renal care services and the company’s expanding network.
Operating profit (EBITDA) also saw a sharp increase of 99.41%, reaching ₹6.84 crore for FY24, up from ₹3.43 crore in the previous financial year. The company reported an EBITDA margin of 25.10%, an improvement of 505 basis points from the 20.05% margin recorded in FY23.
Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder and Managing Director of Nephro Care India, emphasized, “It is to be noted that nearly 15 per cent of the country’s population suffers from high blood sugar levels and nearly 22 per cent from hypertension or high blood pressure and both these conditions pose a significant risk for developing renal diseases. However, the country lacks adequate infrastructure thereby limiting access to specialized renal care contributing to the high burden of end-stage kidney disease. Our renal care clinics have helped bridge the existing demand supply gap to some extent but there is still a long way to go. It is our mission to expand our reach so as to be able to make quality kidney care accessible to people in the remote corners of the country.”
India sees around 220,000 new cases of ESRD annually, leading to an additional demand of 34 million dialysis sessions per year. However, with only 5,000 existing dialysis centers (including 1,353 under the PMNDP scheme), the country’s current capacity is insufficient to meet the growing demand.
In response to this critical shortage, Nephro Care India plans to expand its footprint across the country. The company currently operates five renal care clinics in West Bengal and aims to set up 22 more clinics by March 2026, following a hub-and-spoke model. Over the next 10-15 years, NCIL envisions establishing 300 centers nationwide, aiming to impact the lives of nearly one million CKD patients.
To further enhance its services, NCIL recently inaugurated Vivacity Multispecialty Hospital, a 100-bed facility in Madhyamgram, Kolkata. Built with an investment of ₹36.51 crore, the hospital offers advanced treatments in cardiology, medical oncology, gastroenterology, gynecology, and other specialties, including an advanced renal transplant unit. The facility also features a 30-bed dialysis center, providing state-of-the-art care for patients with kidney disease.
