Redcliffe Labs sets new standard in diagnostics with Six Sigma score

New Delhi: Redcliffe Labs has made a significant stride in delivering high-quality diagnostics across India by achieving an impressive Six Sigma score in a recent study. This study, led by a global healthcare company and Redcliffe Labs’ Director of Technical Operations & Quality Assurance, Dr. Geetanjali Gupta, demonstrated that nearly 75% of the analytes tested met or exceeded Six Sigma standards—setting a new benchmark in the industry.

Six Sigma, a world-renowned methodology, is used to enhance laboratory processes by reducing defects, minimizing variation, and boosting both quality and efficiency. A Six Sigma score represents a near-perfect output, with just 0.0003% of defects per million, ensuring that 99.99966% of diagnostic tests meet accuracy standards. Achieving such a score places Redcliffe Labs among the top-performing diagnostic laboratories globally.

The comprehensive study, conducted in June 2024, spanned nine platforms across three departments: biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay. Equipment from top manufacturers such as Abbott, Horiba, and Roche was utilized in the tests. Compared to the previous study in September 2022, Redcliffe Labs showed a substantial increase in parameters meeting Six Sigma standards, particularly within the biochemistry and immunoassay departments. Biochemistry parameters expanded from 20 to 42, while immunoassay parameters increased from 5 to 19.

In addition to setting new benchmarks, the study also identified lower-performing parameters, allowing the lab to take corrective actions that have improved turnaround times, reduced costs, minimized repeat tests, and strengthened inventory control.
