New Delhi: Shalby Multispeciality Hospitals, known world-wide for knee and hip replacement surgeries, celebrated its 28th anniversary with plans to launch smaller orthopedic specialty hospitals across India.
Founded by the world-renowned joint replacement surgeon Dr. Vikram Shah, Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals is an acknowledged leader in India in orthopedic care with its presence through 11 multispecialty hospitals spread across the country. It performs more than 10,000 joint replacement surgeries annually, which is highest not only in India but across the world.
Leveraging its leadership in orthopedics, it offers multispecialty services at its 11 hospitals with a bed capacity of over 2000. Shalby has come a long way from one small hospital which Dr Shah founded in Ahmedabad in 1994 to today with presence in Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Indore, Mumbai, Mohali, Jabalpur and Vapi today with eleven hospitals.
Shalby’s smaller orthopedics specialty hospitals are named as Shalby Orthopedics Centre of Excellence – SOCE. It plans to start these in tier 2 and tier 3 cities through franchise model across India. Some of the cities Shalby has identified for this are Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Jodhpur, Kota, Bhopal, Gwalior, Raipur, Bilaspur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Pune, Bhubaneshwar etc.
It also plans to start SOCEs in Delhi NCR and Kolkata. Every SOCE is a dedicated, state-of-the-art, full service, walk-in orthopedic centre for the convenient and quality treatment of all orthopedic disorders, accident & trauma as well as sports injuries under one roof.  Shalby’s first SOCE was started in Udaipur last year and very recently one more was launched in Ahmedabad. Third SOCE will open in Rajkot in Gujarat in a few months.
Every SOCE will provide a wide range of orthopedic services including knee and hip replacement surgeries and is equipped with state-of-the-art operation theatre, ICU and emergency department. It will offer OPD as well as IPD services to patients. This will immensely benefit people of the region who will be able to get world-class orthopedic treatment here. It will be very helpful in orthopedic emergencies for people of nearby areas.
Dr. Vikram Shah, Chairman & Managing Director of Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals said, “Our plan is to start 50 smaller Shalby Orthopedics Centres of Excellence all across India in next five years. These will be done through franchise model. These centres of excellence will enable people from smaller cities to access best in class orthopedics and joint replacement services at their own doorstep and they will not need to travel large distances to bigger cities. Besides, they will give an opportunity to young and talented local orthopedic doctors to get associated with a world-class infrastructure set up by SOCE.”
