BioAsia 2017 kickstarts today in Hyderabad

Top influential executives from global pharma powerhouses gather on a single platform in Hyderabad


Hyderabad: BioAsia, the annual flagship event of the Government of Telangana, will start from February 6, 2017 at HICC in the city of Hyderabad – the life sciences hub of India. This 3 day event which has over the years emerged as a preeminent technology and bio-business convention in Asia for Life sciences, pharmaceuticals and healthcare will be inaugurated by the Governor of Telangana, Mr ESL Narasimhan in the presence of high profile industry leaders in a glittering ceremony.

Demonstrating its dominant position, the event scheduled for February 6-8, 2017 is all set to bring together 1,500 delegates from over 50 countries with 100 High profile speakers and 800 Corporates. During the inaugural ceremony, the Governor would also present the Genome Valley Excellence Award to Nobel Laureate Prof Kurt Wuthrichand and Dr Paul Stoffels, Worldwide Chairman Pharmaceuticals and Chief Scientific Officer of Johnson & Johnson for their immense contribution in the field of life sciences and healthcare.

The International Partners for the 14thEdition of the event are the State of Illinois, US and State of Selangor, Malaysia whereas the State of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are the Indian State partners for the event. A high profile delegation from these regions will be attending a series meeting to explore the business opportunities, collaborations in the field of research & innovation and sharing know-how to meet the requirement of affordable drugs and treatment for emerging diseases.

Organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana, the event this year brings together some of the most influential world leaders in Pharma industry from across the globe. Over a period of action packed 3 days, the event will present insightful key notes from Dr. Paul Stoffels, Worldwide Chairman of Pharmaceuticals and Chief Scientific Officer – Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Vasant Narasimhan, Global Head of Drug Development and Chief Medical Officer forNovartis, Dr. Patrick Vallance, President Worldwide Pharmaceuticals, R&D – GSK, Mr. Narayana Murthy, Founder – Infosys, Prof. Kurt Wuthrich, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Scripps Research Institute, USA. The Indian industry will be represented by renowned and proven leaders like Dr. Satish Reddy, Chairman – Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Mr BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder & Executive Chairman – CYIENT and Former Chairman – NASSCOM, Dr Murtaza Khorakiwala, Managing Director of Wockardt, to name a few.

The exhibition at the event venue with about 100 exhibitionists will showcase some of the most innovative products, services and solutions in Life Sciences and healthcare. The highlight at the exhibition will be the VR experience (Virtual Reality) of the upcomingPharma City in Hyderabad with plug-and-play facilities.

BioAsia 2017 will also organize Startup Showcase for Healthcare startups wherein around 50 startups will showcase their solutions in the field of mHealth& diagnostic mobile apps, patient data management and eHealth records, 3D Prosthetics & 3D Bio printing, etc. In addition to this, the startups will also be given a platform to connect with the C-Level executives and industry experts who can provide critical inputs on their products and services. The presence of decision makers from corporate world will also help the startups to generate business leads.

BioAsia2016 witnessed participation of around 1,300 registered delegates from 50 countries. It also conducted around 1,200 trade, partnership & deliberation meetings at the event. The 2017 edition will also have a Buyer Seller Meet wherein a large number of international buyers will participate.
