Nilgiri conservation award 2016 conferred to IISWR

Dr O P S Khola, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam received the award for his outstanding work on the conservation of Nilgiri biosphere

New Delhi: The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam was honored with “Nilgiri Conservation Award” by the Nilgiri Documentation Centre on 3rd February, 2017 at Udhagamandalam. The same was done during the meeting on “Future of Nilgiri Mountains and presentation of Nilgiri conservation Award 2016” at Udhagamandalam for the centre’s achievements in research, development and capacity building activities in soil and water conservation in Nilgiris.

iiswri-06022017Dr O P S Khola, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam received the award. In his acceptance remark,  Dr Khola thanked the organizers for the award and informed that ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam is committed to conserve the Nilgiri biosphere through its research and developmental activities.

The meeting was presided by  Dr Vithal Rajan, former Director, WWF International. Dr O P S Khola, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam presented the future strategies in soil and water conservation for conserving the Nilgiri biosphere. Dr K Kannan, Principal Scientist and Dr P Raja, Senior Scientist of the centre also participated in the award ceremony
