Pune: The city-based renowned educational institution, Symbiosis recently celebrated the International Student’s Day by organizing a blood donation drive simultaneously at all the nine campuses at Pune and five outstation campuses at Noida, Nashik, Bangalore, Nagpur and Hyderabad.

This year the blood donation drive was arranged by Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC), Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) and Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON) in association with 14 blood banks across India.

To encourage maximum participation for this noble cause, various promotional events were undertaken by students of SIHS and SCON under the guidance of healthcare professionals of SCHC. These included motivational skits, flash mobs and organizing poster competition. There was an overwhelming response of 582 participants for the poster competition comprising students from kindergarten to the postgraduate level and staff members.

Additionally, with a view to recognize the donors, each donor was appreciated with a ‘Blood Donation Certificate’. For their contribution to this noble cause, each of the donors was also presented with an individual ‘Scroll of Appreciation’.

Due to such well-coordinated efforts undertaken by SCHC, SIHS and SCON in collaboration with the blood banks at all the Symbiosis campuses, 1510 donors donated blood.

As per management, following the philosophy of giving back to the society, the students and faculty members of Symbiosis contributed to the noble cause of voluntary blood donation, as an institutional social responsibility.
