Burkert inaugurates new manufacturing facility in Pune to strengthen its portfolio in India

New Delhi: Burkert Fluid Control Systems India, a leading manufacturer of measurement and control systems for liquids and gases, inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, with a grand ceremony.

This state-of-the-art facility is a significant addition to Burkert’s global value chain, aimed at meeting the growing demand in the region by producing components and system solutions.

Located in Talegaon MIDC, Phase 2, the new facility spans 50,000 square feet and is equipped with advanced machining centers, assembly lines, and testing centers designed for optimum productivity. It has the capacity to produce over 30,000 valves and 500 systems annually. This new unit brings production closer to Burkert’s customers, boosting local employment and enhancing service delivery. Initially, the Talegaon facility will focus on manufacturing Mass Flow Controllers, Angle Seat Valves, Diaphragm Valves, and System Solutions, with plans to expand production in phases to meet the diverse needs of Indian industries.

Speaking at the launch, Georg Stawowy, CEO of Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, said, “The opening of our new manufacturing facility in India is a testament to our commitment to the Indian market and the government’s ‘Make in India’ vision. By manufacturing locally, we can better serve our customers with customized products and systems that meet their specific needs. Our goal is to make Burkert an integral part of India’s industrial landscape by combining our global expertise with local production capabilities.”

Sadiq Khan, Managing Director of Bürkert Fluid Control Systems India, added, “This facility marks a groundbreaking achievement for Burkert and becomes the third manufacturing unit to produce the world’s best control and monitoring equipment outside of Europe. This manufacturing unit is a critical facility to complete the Burkert value chain across the globe.”

The Talegaon unit is expected to employ up to 32 people by the end of this year, with the potential to grow to 100 employees next year. Burkert’s technology transfer to India has already been completed for several unique systems, including panels for Zone 1 ATEX classification. This local production will play a pivotal role in Burkert’s long-term profitability goals, with the company expecting the facility to be profitable by 2028.

Burkert’s global turnover stands at approximately 710 million EUR, with over 3,700 employees worldwide and a strong investment in R&D, accounting for 6.9% of its total revenue. In India, Burkert serves notable clients such as Zydus, Alembic, Sun Pharma, Biocon, Bharat Biotech, and Serum Institute, reinforcing its position as a key player in the country’s industrial sector.
