New Delhi: eLabNext, part of the Eppendorf Group has announced an upgrade in its sample tracking capabilities.
The integration of the Thermo Scientific™ VisionMate™ HSX High Speed Barcode Reader with eLabNext’s Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) aims to transform laboratory operations by providing a more streamlined and efficient sample management process.
The VisionMate™ HSX High Speed Barcode Reader, now accessible via eLabNext’s eLabMarketplace add-ons library, enhances the platform’s functionality by allowing users to scan and track samples with unprecedented speed and accuracy. This integration is designed to minimize identification errors and ensure reliable sample processing workflows, addressing a critical need in laboratory environments, particularly in large-scale facilities such as biobanks.
Dave Hunter, Global Product Manager of Storage Equipment at Thermo Fisher Scientific, emphasized the importance of accurate sample labeling and management. “In life science laboratories, particularly for large-scale facilities, such as biobanks, where errors in sample identification can make large collections of samples totally useless. The VisionMate™ HSX High Speed Barcode Reader and its integration with ELNs and LIMS, such as the eLabNext platform, gives life science teams the ability to avoid errors, scale capacity, and move towards more automated operations.”
The VisionMate™ HSX High Speed Barcode Reader boasts impressive capabilities, including the ability to decode 2D tube barcodes in under a second. It supports Matrix™ and Nunc™ tubes in various formats—24, 48, 96, and 384 racks—and can simultaneously read 1D rack barcodes. The reader’s design allows for sample racks to be placed in any orientation, ensuring accurate data display and export. Additionally, the device is built to be cleanroom-compatible, dust- and water-tight, and resistant to frost build-up.
Zareh Zurabyan, Head of eLabNext, Americas, highlighted, “Sample labeling, tracking, and management is a common pain point we hear about from nearly all of our customers. Our goal at eLabNext is to improve sample tracking and logging through lab digitalization and compatibility with the Thermo Scientific™ VisionMate™ HSX High Speed Barcode Reader provides our users with an off-the-shelf solution to their sample management challenges. Partnership with a life science leader like Thermo Fisher Scientific will provide the broader scientific community with a trusted and seamless workflow management solution.”
