New Delhi: Paras Health has launched the “Ghar Ghar Paras” campaign to raise public awareness about emergency care, trauma services, and preventive measures for road safety. The campaign is part of the hospital’s broader effort to ensure timely medical interventions during emergencies and reduce the growing number of road traffic accidents in India.
As part of the initiative, Paras Health is providing free ambulance services in the cities where its hospitals are located. This step aims to eliminate barriers to receiving critical care, ensuring that people can access emergency services when they need them most. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of Paras’ Trauma Care Centres, which offer specialized care during critical situations.
Road traffic accidents remain a significant health burden in India. Between 2009 and 2019, traffic crashes ranked as the 13th leading cause of death and disability in the country. The problem has worsened in recent years, with official reports documenting 461,312 road accidents in 2022. These accidents resulted in 168,491 deaths and 443,366 injuries, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year: 11.9% for accidents, 9.4% for deaths, and a worrying 15.3% rise in injuries.
The “Ghar Ghar Paras” campaign is not just focused on emergency medical response but also on prevention. In Gurgaon, Paras Health has partnered with the Gurugram Traffic Police to raise awareness about road safety through street plays (Nukkad Natak), talk shows in schools, and road shows demonstrating the importance of emergency medical care. Similar collaborations with local authorities are planned in other cities where Paras operates, including Udaipur, Panchkula, Srinagar, Ranchi, Patna, and Darbhanga.
Dr. Santy Sajan, Group Chief Operating Officer of Paras Health, highlighted, ‘Through this initiative, we strive to bridge the gap between emergency situations and timely medical response. We are confident that our collaborative efforts with the Gurugram Police and community outreach programs will have a significant impact on promoting public health and safety.”
In addition to these efforts, Paras Health is distributing first-aid kits in underprivileged communities, including slum areas and orphanages, across its hospital network. This initiative aims to equip these communities with basic first-aid knowledge and tools to respond effectively in emergencies.
Dr. Dharminder Kumar Nagar, Managing Director of Paras Health, emphasized, “At Paras Health, we believe that timely medical intervention is crucial during emergencies. The ‘Ghar Ghar Paras’ campaign is our endeavour to ensure that citizens have access to quality medical care, whenever and wherever needed. By creating awareness about road safety and equipping communities with basic first-aid knowledge, we aim to empower people to respond effectively in critical situations.”
