New Delhi: Leading specialty hospital chain Paras Healthcare has announced a major management expansion, with the appointment of healthcare operations veteran Dr Shankar Narang as the Chief Operating Officer of the Group, which has ambitious plans of expanding its presence across North India over the next three years.
Dr Shankar brings with him more than 15 years of extensive experience in healthcare and operational delivery having been associated with several organizations of repute including Fortis and Max Healthcare, to name a few. He has earlier also worked with Paras Hospitals as GM Operations & Quality for five years and has a fair understanding of the Group’s organizational ethics and culture.
As COO, he will be responsible for overseeing operations at all hospitals and healthcare verticals of Paras Group including Paras Hospitals (the chain of multi super specialty hospitals), Paras Bliss (chain of mother and child care hospitals) and Paras Cancer Centre (chain of specialized cancer care centres).
Speaking on his appointment as COO, Dr Shankar said, “For me joining back Paras is like home coming. I was the GM operations and Quality of Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon – the first flagship hospital of Paras Healthcare. My challenging role taught me exceptional attributes of the healthcare industry. Today I am honored to be part of India’s only healthcare chain that has been able to expand to more than 1000 beds without any equity funding. The exceptional patient reach and positive feedbacks on India basis has been the motivation for this organization to grow and be instrumental in bridging the healthcare gap in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities”.
According to Dr Shankar, “During my tenure I shall be focusing on clinical structuring, operational efficiency, and evidence based medicine, inclusion of the best HR based practices, quality orientation & training along with patient feedback and gap bridging.”
With years of experience and deep understanding of healthcare delivery and an exceptional exposure in medical and non medical purchase, Dr Shankar is expected to lead and streamline the medical excellence and clinical operations of the Group’s hospitals. He shall be facilitating the operations, finance and the EBIDTA levels of each unit. The human resource and sales and marketing of the units shall also be strengthened under his expertise.
“We are at present 1000 beds strong. Over the coming years we not just intend to expand, but be stronger internally in our processes through due diligence and excellence. We shall be focusing on formulating robust operational systems, plans that will help in cost optimization, manpower utilization and shall encompass the overall growth of the hospital chain as a specialized provider for the community,” added Dr Shankar.
Speaking on the new management appointment, Group MD Dr Dharminder Nagar said, “As we set on major plans for expanding our presence across North India, we need to strengthen our leadership to enable Paras Healthcare bridge the healthcare gap and become community healthcare providers that deliver specialized medical expertise based on affordability, accessibility and quality.”
