New Delhi: Sai Life Sciences has released its Sustainability Report for 2023-2024. The report which aligns with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Universal Standards 2021 framework, reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to integrating sustainability with corporate growth.
Themed “Synergising Sustainability, Performance, and Growth,” this report details significant strides made by Sai Life Sciences across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.
Krishna Kanumuri, CEO and Managing Director of Sai Life Sciences, highlighted, “Overall, it has been a year of climate action for Sai Life Sciences. Today, renewable energy constitutes over 50% of our energy consumption at an organisational level. During the year, we also added newer decarbonisation levers to our programme, which have made significant contributions to reducing GHG emissions. This has been possible through sustained efforts, year on year, to strengthen our sustainability ecosystem and continually raise the bar.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sai Life Sciences has outlined a clear roadmap to achieve ambitious ESG targets by 2027. The company made significant progress in reducing its GHG emissions, increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources, and lowering its specific water consumption.
Additionally, the company surpassed its goal of providing education and livelihood opportunities to over 8,000 individuals from underprivileged communities through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Sai Life Sciences also continued to see an increase in diversity, with women now representing 14.3% of its workforce—a figure that continues to grow annually.
In recent years, Sai Life Sciences has expanded its efforts to bolster its sustainability initiatives. The company joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), demonstrating its commitment to combat climate change through science-backed methods. It also became the first India-headquartered company to join the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), enhancing its engagement in sustainable supply chain practices.
Alongside these developments, the company has strengthened its health and safety culture through substantial investments in upgrading infrastructure and systems. Sai Life Sciences’ achievements have not gone unnoticed, with the company receiving multiple awards for its excellence in environmental health, safety practices, and energy management.
