Shoolini University develops patented telemedicine device designed to enhance healthcare access

New Delhi: Researchers at Shoolini University have developed a groundbreaking telemedicine device for health monitoring, poised to revolutionize healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and remote areas with limited access to specialist doctors.

This innovative device integrates real-time health data tracking, virtual consultations, prescription services, and doorstep medicine delivery. Additionally, a unique cryptocurrency incentive system encourages users to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles.

Recently granted a patent, this invention was spearheaded by Shoolini University’s Ramanujan Research Associate and Ph.D. scholar, Anitya Kumar Gupta, alongside SRP Biotechnology students Aditi Kulshreshtha and Sataditya Jana. This milestone has attracted significant attention from medical professionals and technology experts, positioning the device as a transformative advancement in the future of healthcare.

“Our telemedicine device represents a major leap in leveraging technology to bring accessible and efficient healthcare to underserved areas,” said Anitya Kumar Gupta, Ramanujan Research Associate at Shoolini University. “Its ability to integrate health monitoring, virtual care, and cryptocurrency incentives is set to transform how patients manage their well-being, particularly in rural communities.”

The device collects critical health data, including physical and mental health metrics such as blood pressure and sugar levels, through advanced sensor technology. It seamlessly integrates with smartphones and wearables like smartwatches, fostering a direct connection between patients and healthcare providers.

A user-friendly questionnaire helps assess overall health, followed by real-time data analysis. The system can detect early symptoms of diseases such as diabetes, ensuring timely notifications to both patients and doctors.

One standout feature of the device is its cryptocurrency incentive system. Patients can earn Dogecoins by achieving health goals, such as walking a certain number of steps or maintaining adequate hydration. Dogecoins are gaining increasing recognition and trust in society. The prototype of this reward system was developed in collaboration with Claremont Graduate University, USA, and Dr. Samir Chatterjee. Dr. Chatterjee will oversee the approval process before proceeding with monetization.

“This invention is a proud moment for our team and Shoolini University,” shared Aditi Kulshreshtha, an SRP Biotechnology student. “It not only addresses the critical healthcare challenges faced in remote areas but also empowers individuals to take charge of their health through a seamless and innovative solution. Our aim is to make healthcare more proactive, and patient centred.”

The device also integrates seamlessly with mobile apps, including Apple’s Health app, eliminating the need for a separate telemedicine app. Its design ensures a proactive healthcare management experience, capable of detecting minor symptoms and providing continuous feedback.

Additionally, the system facilitates virtual appointments, enabling patients to consult doctors without visiting clinics. Post-consultation, it automates prescription fulfillment using a Large Language Model (LLM), sending prescriptions directly to local pharmacies for medication delivery.

Currently, the team is refining the system based on user feedback. Future plans include monetizing the device through a three-tier subscription model.
