New Delhi: In an initiative aimed at addressing the growing prevalence of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) among children in India, Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSINSR) has joined hands with the Healing Little Hearts Foundation based in the UK.
The partnership formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aims to enhance healthcare access and deliver critical care to children suffering from CHD.
According to recent statistics, 8-10 out of every 1,000 children born in India are diagnosed with CHD, a condition that requires specialized medical attention. Alarmingly, the Government of India projects that this number could increase fivefold within the next five years, underscoring the urgent need for intervention.
SMSINSR, known for its compassionate healthcare model, operates the Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Multi-Speciality Hospital, which offers all services completely free of charge. This commitment extends to the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres for Child Heart Care, specialized facilities dedicated to treating paediatric congenital heart diseases across four centres in India and two international locations (Fiji and Sri Lanka). Established in 2012, these centres form the world’s largest chain of paediatric cardiac hospitals without billing counters, providing essential care to children regardless of their economic background.
Dr. Sanjiv Nichani, Founder of Healing Little Hearts, expressed, “We are honoured to finalise the MOU with SMSINSR in the presence of Sadguru. The tranquil atmosphere of Satya Sai Gram is truly remarkable and holds immense potential for healing. This partnership represents a commitment to saving countless young lives, ensuring they have the chance to thrive with good health. The warm hospitality here is exceptional, and we are eager to continue returning to support children battling Congenital Heart Disease.”
The Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission, which includes India’s First Free Private Rural Medical College and associated hospitals, shares a common vision with the Healing Little Hearts Foundation—providing free healthcare services. This alliance signifies a significant stride towards easing the burden of CHD on affected families and underscores the belief that compassionate healthcare is essential for healing and well-being.
