Founded during COVID-19, Rocket Health initially offered 4,000+ free tele-consults across India. To date, the platform has delivered over 200,000 therapy sessions via a network of 100+ psychologists, and it’s on track to deliver 100,000 therapy sessions this year.
In an exclusive interview, Dr. Ritika Sinha, Co-Founder & COO of Rocket Health shares insights on the journey of the company, its latest initiatives, and future plans.

BV LogoWhat was the founding idea behind Rocket Health, and how did it evolve into a comprehensive mental health & telehealth platform?
Rocket Health is deeply personal. It started out with what I lived and breathed growing up, i.e, my parents’ hospital  and then seeing things firsthand as a doctor. The big takeaway for me was healthcare, especially mental health, felt incredibly scary and confusing for most people. I noticed so many patients were putting off getting help, or avoiding it completely. The reason was associated stigma, a total lack of privacy, and just the sheer dread of walking into a clinical setting. When we ran our COVID pilot, it was an enlightening moment for us.
Technology could absolutely ease away those barriers and make care feel human again. We started with judgment-free online therapy and psychiatry, but that seed has blossomed into a full ecosystem: diagnostics, a cloud pharmacy, and wellness products. I’ve always been driven by a simple goal and that was making high-quality mental healthcare easy to get, free of stigma, and right there for anyone who needs it, wherever they are.

What differentiates Rocket Health from other digital mental health or telehealth platforms in India?
Rocket Health offers a completely human-centered approach to mental wellness, starting with our Care Team, which acts like a personal concierge available right on WhatsApp. They are real people dedicated to guiding you seamlessly through your journey—before, during, and after your sessions. Crucially, we ensure the highest standard of clinical care by hand-picking our psychologists and psychiatrists; our acceptance rate is less than 1%, and we maintain continuous excellence through advanced training at the Rocket Academy. We’ve built a truly holistic ecosystem where therapy, psychiatry, pharmacy, and diagnostics all exist on one intuitive platform, meaning you never have to navigate fragmented services. Our commitment is to deeply personalized care, ensuring treatment is tailored precisely to individual needs, moving far beyond impersonal, cookie-cutter protocols.
To make accessing this easier, we use flat, fully transparent pricing, eliminating the typical confusion and friction involved in selecting the right provider. Finally, we’re not just a clinic; we’re actively building a movement through engaging content and community initiatives to make mental health mainstream and genuinely appealing, especially to younger generations like Millennials and Gen Z. This entire structure is built on an unwavering commitment to being healthcare-first, not “business-first,” grounding every single decision we make in ethics, trust, and your well-being.

What were some early challenges in convincing people to seek help digitally, especially for mental health?
In the early days of Rocket Health, convincing individuals to embrace digital mental healthcare presented distinct hurdles, primarily centered around deeply ingrained societal perceptions. The most significant challenge was the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health; people often feared being judged, criticized, or permanently “labeled” simply for seeking help, despite encouraging improvements in awareness, particularly among younger demographics like Gen Z. A necessary effort was devoted to educating prospective users thoroughly about the robust safety measures and strict confidentiality protocols inherent in digital care, which was vital for building the foundational trust required to move sessions online. Furthermore, we immediately encountered a practical hurdle: the acute shortage of truly well-trained, high-caliber psychologists.
Overcoming this required substantial investment in establishing a rigorous, meticulous screening process and continuous upskilling programs to ensure clinical excellence. Finally, normalizing the entire experience demanded strong, authentic storytelling and community-led content designed to make therapy feel approachable, relatable, and simply a normal part of life, rather than a clinical necessity.

How do you see the next phase of digital mental healthcare evolving — more tech-driven or more human-centric?
The next phase of digital mental healthcare will fundamentally be tech-powered but decisively human-led. Technology’s role will be to enhance and streamline critical operational aspects: it will vastly improve triaging to ensure prompt attention, optimize matching clients with the most suitable providers, enable objective progress tracking, and facilitate the overall delivery of seamless care. However, we must recognize that genuine mental health outcomes are rooted in trust, empathy, and authentic human connection, elements that simply cannot be automated.
The true evolution lies in creating highly personalized care journeys—integrating sophisticated data and clinical insights with genuinely warm, supportive human interaction. Ultimately, AI and digital tools will serve to augment the capacity and effectiveness of therapists, not replace them, ensuring that the essential therapeutic relationship remains at the core of effective treatment.

Could you share some metrics or stories that reflect Rocket Health’s impact?
Rocket Health’s impact is quantifiable proof of our human-first mission, demonstrated by the sheer volume of care delivered: we have successfully provided over 200,000 therapy sessions to more than 60,000 individuals across India, and currently maintain a high operational tempo, serving over 100,000 sessions annually. These numbers reflect our role in fundamentally shifting how people access help. Beyond the sessions, our unique impact lies in creating continuous support systems; our peer support communities, such as those on Discord, and our daily content initiatives ensure engagement extends far past the one-hour session, normalizing the mental health conversation and making it a relatable part of daily life.
The most meaningful metric of all is the trust we’ve earned—the fact that our users choose us for their long-term, sustained mental health journeys is the ultimate testament to the high quality, compassionate, and ethical foundation of the care we provide.

How does the company plan to reach Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities where stigma and access issues are stronger?
To effectively serve Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, where stigma and accessibility remain significant barriers, Rocket Health is deploying a multifaceted strategy that leverages both technology and community-building. Our fully digital platform is foundational, immediately dissolving geographical constraints and allowing individuals to access confidential, high-quality help privately, a feature particularly valued where social scrutiny is high. Access is further broadened by our affordable and transparent pricing model, which makes sustained mental healthcare financially feasible for demographics often overlooked, such as students and young professionals residing in smaller towns. Critically, we employ a content-led approach designed to dismantle shame, normalize the act of seeking therapy, and cultivate safe, relatable narratives that resonate with local audiences.
To ensure comprehensive care, we have integrated pan-India diagnostics delivery and a robust cloud pharmacy, effectively completing the full care loop even in historically underserved regions. This structure is humanized through community-driven support and our WhatsApp-led Care Team, which proactively builds essential trust, especially among first-time users. This commitment is already yielding results, with 45% of our current audience already hailing from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
