New Delhi: Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd. has launched Patient Safety Week 2024, in line with the global initiative of World Patient Safety Day. This year’s theme, “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety,” focuses on the critical role of accurate and timely diagnosis in ensuring patient safety and enhancing healthcare outcomes.
The campaign, under the slogan “Get it right, make it safe,” aims to emphasize the importance of diagnostic precision and actively involve patients, families, and healthcare professionals in a collective effort to improve safety standards across all departments.
In support of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global patient safety campaign, Wockhardt Hospitals has planned a week of educational activities and competitions designed to create a comprehensive awareness of patient safety. Workstations focusing on International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) have been set up to educate staff and patients alike. A poster competition is also being held, with participants focusing on the theme “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety,” aimed at raising awareness through creative displays.
Additionally, a “Patient & Family Quiz” has been organized to engage patients and their families in safety awareness, fostering a collaborative approach to patient care. Quiz competitions for associates and consultants will also be held to further strengthen knowledge of safety protocols. Another innovative activity is the creation of “Patient Safety Reels,” where consultants will submit 60-second videos, with both unit and group-level prizes awarded to the best entries, reinforcing the importance of patient safety.
Further adding to the initiative’s educational efforts, a slogan competition has been introduced, along with an invitation for staff to submit their ideas for improving safety practices. Both clinical and non-clinical patient safety officers are actively involved in these efforts. The hospital has also placed a strong emphasis on raising awareness around critical test results, educating healthcare professionals on the importance of rapid and accurate communication in diagnosis.
Safety pavilions are being set up across laboratory, imaging, and inpatient areas to provide education on the importance of accurate diagnosis and safety procedures. These interactive stations will offer valuable insights to patients and their families, underscoring the hospital’s dedication to safe and effective care.
Speaking at the launch, Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director of Wockhardt Hospitals Group, expressed, “We are deeply committed to advancing patient safety and quality care. During Patient Safety Week 2024, we reaffirm our dedication to creating a culture of safety where every patient receives the highest standard of care.”
“Patient safety is an ongoing journey, and improving diagnosis is one of the key steps to enhancing patient outcomes. Through this initiative, we aim to engage associates, patients, and their families in fostering a safer healthcare environment,” highlighted, Dr. Clive Fernandes, Group Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer of Wockhardt Hospitals Group.
