AMTZ holds workshop on business sustainability practices for industry & academia

The Andhra Pradesh Medical Technology Zone in partnership with British Standards Institution held a workshop for bioscience sector stakeholders to create awareness about sustainability practices in the corporate world

Visakhapatnam: The half day workshop conducted at the Kalam Convention centre at AMTZ saw participation from more than 50 members from across institutions, manufacturers, incubates, start-ups and corporates looking forward to bring sustainability into their respective business ecosystems.

Mr Kumara Swamy Chandrashekara, Head, Sustainability, BSI India conducted the session and gave a complete over view of the sustainability practices in corporates and also as to how BSI helps to shape, share, embed, assess, advise and continually improve sustainability practices. Ms D Aparna, Assistant Manager, BSI gave introduction to the session and the speakers.

Dr Jitendar Kumar Sharma, MD and CEO, AMTZ sharing his thoughts about sustainability practices elucidated the three most important sustainability practices, Financial Sustainability, Process Sustainability and Goal Sustainability that shape AMTZ group of institutions. He also stressed the need for constantly upgrading the goals once the old ones are fulfilled. This, he said is key to the vibrancy of AMTZ group of institutions and also the factor behind the speed and quality of work being delivered. He congratulated BSI for organizing this in association with AMTZ and hoped all stakeholders would gain from this workshop.

Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone being the only integrated medical device manufacturing eco system, apart from the three business sustainability practices, is also a keen practitioner of sustainability in every sphere from having over 50 percent green cover to commissioning solar plants and eco-friendly transportation systems within the zone to segregation of waste.

The session concluded with many of the participants expressing interest to adopt sustainable practices in their respective organizations especially in the field of medical devices.
