New Delhi: The Vaidya’s Oath by Gautam Raja is a play on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). A Wellcome Trust UK International Public Engagement Award has made this play possible for Jagriti in collaboration with Theatrescience UK and the National Centre for Biological Science (NCBS), for work that engages and brings about public awareness on biomedical issues, through the arts.

Synopsis
Dr Ajay has been demoted, a punishment transfer from his hospital in Allahabad to a Primary Health Centre in Katkoot, UP. Uma, his wife, is a Bangalore girl. She’s unhappy in Katkoot and wants more for her husband’s career as wel as her own. Then she finds out she’s pregnant. Meanwhile, Kamala, a local girl, has a baby boy ill with sepsis. Can Dr. Ajay cure him? And then there’s Rahul, a seismologist who wants to be a stand-up comedian. Will the marriage survive? Will the baby live? Will Rahul get a laugh?
