New Delhi: The 7th International Health and Wellness Expo, organized by the Namo Gange Trust, concluded at Pragati Maidan after a three-day event from August 29 to 31, 2024. The Expo, which brought together health experts, government officials, and wellness enthusiasts, showcased India’s ancient healthcare systems and the growing relevance of Ayurveda and Ayush practices in modern life.
Union Minister of State, S.P. Singh Baghel, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He toured the exhibition and addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing health through lifestyle management rather than relying solely on treatment after illness. “A healthy body fosters a healthy mind, and a healthy mind builds a healthy nation,” Baghel said.
Baghel praised the government’s ongoing efforts to revitalize Ayurveda and other traditional health systems under the Ayush initiative. He stated that Ayurveda and Ayush are the oldest systems of medicine and that the current government is extensively working to integrate them into the future of healthcare in India.
The Expo featured 91 stalls from various government and private organizations, covering topics from Ayurveda to horticulture and wellness. Major participants included CSIR, MDES, ICAR, NRDC, CDB, the National Medicinal Plants Board, and the Uttarakhand Forest Resource Management-JICA. Thousands of students also attended the event, participating in the Arogya Seminar conducted by Ayush scholars.
Prominent speakers at the event included Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor (Ayurveda) to the Ministry of Ayush, and Prof. Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director of the All-India Institute of Ayurveda, who addressed the Arogya Seminar during the Expo’s conclusion. Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari emphasized the need to integrate Ayurveda with modern science and technology. She stated, “The future of medicine is no medicine,” highlighting the importance of understanding the science behind traditional practices to create standardized protocols that promote wellness and happiness.
Dr. Manoj Nesari echoed these sentiments, stressing the need for more expos like the International Health and Wellness Expo to promote health awareness and encourage lifestyle changes. He commended the Namo Gange Trust for their work and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the significant transformations in the health sector, including the 2017 National Health Policy and increased investments in the Ayush sector. Dr. Nesari also noted the opportunities for collaboration between Ayush and allopathic medicine, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlighted ongoing partnerships with institutions such as IIT, CSIR, DST, and DBT.
As the largest Expo for Ayush and traditional Indian medicine, the event successfully brought together Union Ministers, Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan award-winning doctors, and several other prominent figures to promote health and wellness. The Namo Gange Trust, which has been working for over a decade to bring Ayush practices to the masses, received widespread recognition for organizing the event.
